How do regular convention volunteers get in contact with famous people & invite them to conventions/events?

There are a wide range of conventions from Sci Fi, anime, Horror, etc. They always have famous guests from that particular genre attending the event. But how did the people get in contact with those guests?

Those conventions are run by every day people like you and me. How do they reach into contact with them to request if they would attend their convention? Their agents? Where would you locate the agents phone numbers?

Please, if anyone knows or have tips please answer!

Normally those conventions are organized months and even up to a year ahead of time. This is done so the event staff has an adequate amount of time to coordinate closely with a public relations person, media consultant, agent, or other celebrity contact resource.

All of the above occupations specialize in making contact with celebrities/high-profile people and organizing special affairs as well as coordinating celebrity schedules.

This is where the saying "It's not what you know but who you know," comes in handy because the average person that works those conventions is usually not privileged to this celebrity contact information.

That is why in the majority of instances the event staff of the convention normally contracts the services of a public relations professional that specializes in the information that they cannot acquire on their own.

It's not impossible for volunteers to do but usually far beyond the resources of the average person working voluntarily at a convention such as you describe.
Reply:You get in touch with the William and Morris Agency in California USA and talk to someone who can direct you to the particular agent handling the people that you want to contract !!! That's the simplified version !!!
